Working together to solve poverty in Hartlepool

Here we are on the day after OXFEST and all involved are left with a sense of pride and optimism. The event took place in Cornwall Street between 12 and 3pm and for that period of time the community came together and had fun, chatted with one another and began thinking about their own roles in making things better. Hartlepool Action Lab will be in the area regularly to continue the positive message that OXFEST spread and keep the residents updated on the improvements that they want to see.

Everyone involved from the residents of the area, the volunteers and staff, all had a great day but now it is time for the rubber to meet the road. We will be collecting all of the ideas we received on the day and collating the conversations we had with local people and presenting them as an infographic. This will form the basis of our working priorities along with the engagement teams who will be walking the streets monday, wednesday and friday every week.

Local Newspaper(Hartlepool Life) as well as Local Radio(BBC Tees) covered the event and spread the positivity coming from the work we have done so far.

If you would like to be involved with the work we are doing or have any ideas which could improve an area of the town, don’t hesitate to get in touch using the contact section of our website. Also keep an eye out on our social media feeds and this website for some awesome photo collages from the event
