The De Bruce area of West Hartlepool has seen a flurry of activity to strengthen community spirit over the past 12 months.
De Bruce was chosen as the first of thirteen areas in Hartlepool to bring residents and agencies together to make positive changes within the local community, as part of the Stronger Neighbourhoods project.
The project team got the ball rolling in August last year, when a team of community researchers had 200 conversations with local people to find out what they wanted to see happen to strengthen community spirit in their area.
The Brighter Brus event in October 2016 saw local people and agencies come together, to share information and ideas about how they could work together in De Bruce.
Off the back of the event, the Brighter Brus resident group formed to take action on some of the points raised in the research.
This Thursday (13:00 – 15:00, 1st of June), the Brighter Brus group will hold a community event at the West View Advice and Resource Centre (Miers Avenue, Hartlepool TS24 9JQ).
The event is free to attend and will be suitable for individuals and families of all ages.
There will be face painting, arts and crafts, line dancing, mini olympics and a free raffle.
In addition, local organisations will be providing advice and information, including on topics such as anti-social behaviour, transport and household finance. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about the history of the area from local residents.
Refreshments will be provided.
Most importantly, the event will be an opportunity to join the Brighter Brus group as they work towards making the area an even better place to live. For information about the Stronger Neighbourhoods project, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or Jonathan on 07988592095.
We hope to see you there!
